Spotify said October 20 that it had removed more than 50 million suspected “slop and spam” tracks from recommendations in 2026, alongside more than 75 million tracks removed from the platform for serious or repeated violations. Its year-in-review emphasizes AI Credits, artist verification, labels for AI personas and artist profile-protection tools. The company says more than 300,000 artists are verified, with independent artists making up over 70 percent of that group. The claims are Spotify’s own, so they should be presented as platform reporting rather than independent measurement. Still, the development is directly relevant to independent Latin creators whose names, catalogs and discovery routes can be vulnerable to impersonation, duplication and spam.
