The U.S. unemployment rate for Hispanic or Latino workers was 4.7% in September, down from 4.8% in August, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The rate is seasonally adjusted and includes people of any race who identify as Hispanic or Latino. The wider labor-market picture was subdued: payroll employment rose by 29,000 and the overall unemployment rate was 4.2%, with BLS saying both changed little during the month. These are estimates from separate employer and household surveys, and the household measure has wider coverage but greater month-to-month variability. One monthly movement should not be mistaken for a lasting trend, especially when the series is subject to revisions.
