Remittances to the Dominican Republic totaled US$9.49 billion from January through September 2026, up 6.5 percent from the same period last year, the country’s central bank reported Oct. 11. September alone brought US$1.06 billion, 6.6 percent more than September 2025 and the seventh consecutive month above US$1 billion. The Banco Central attributes the growth partly to a stronger U.S. labor market and higher employment among Dominicans abroad, while noting international uncertainty and elevated energy prices. The figures show a major current inflow to Dominican households and the national economy; they do not reveal how individual families spend or share the money.
