Tether said Oct. 21 it led a pre-seed round in Peso, a Bolivia-based fintech that offers payments, savings and investment access across Latin America. The company says the investment will support Peso’s expansion of stablecoin-powered payment services for retail, institutions, e-commerce, food delivery, ride-hailing and banking connections. Peso’s own materials describe its product as a digital financial platform built around dollar-linked balances and regional transfers. These are company descriptions of the service and its intended use, not evidence of adoption, transaction costs or consumer protections in every market. The deal puts a major dollar stablecoin issuer behind a regional fintech at a moment when payment infrastructure and digital-dollar access are drawing fresh attention.
