Zillow’s 2026 Consumer Housing Trends Report offers a snapshot of how buyers are using AI: 82% said they use AI in general, and 61% of those users said they had used it while buying a home. Common uses included learning about the process, getting market insights and finding homes. The survey also found 85% of buyers used an agent, suggesting AI is entering a journey that still relies heavily on professional guidance. Zillow says it gathered responses from more than 144,000 people across 21 surveys between March and July, using opt-in panels weighted to Census benchmarks. Because this is a company survey rather than a probability sample, the figures are best read as a large, weighted snapshot—not a definitive count of every U.S. buyer’s behavior.
