Colman Domingo's latest television chapter gives audiences a reason to pay attention to the people around a star. His 2026 supporting-comedy nomination from the Television Academy recognizes his work as Danny in Netflix's The Four Seasons. In September, the New Mexico Film Office announced third-season filming in Santa Fe. The comedy remains part of his working life, with another chapter taking shape.

The series begins with three married couples whose friendships are unsettled by one couple's separation. Netflix's cast introduction pairs Domingo's Danny with Claude, played by Marco Calvani. That premise gives a performer more to negotiate than an individual character's wishes. What happens to one relationship changes the conversations, loyalties and habits of a whole group.

It is a productive setting for thinking about range. An actor can expand by accepting a radically different character; he can also expand through the relationships a part requires. Ensemble comedy depends on the response as well as the declaration, the pause as well as the speech. A character must be specific enough to matter without turning everyone else into scenery. The supporting category makes room to recognize that kind of contribution.

Domingo has also directed for the series. That adds another dimension to his involvement: an actor's work on one character can sit beside responsibility for a scene involving many. It is worth following both credits. A profile that stops at the face in the promotional photograph misses an opportunity to describe how a performer helps shape the larger production.

His account of his family offers another reason for precision. In an Interview magazine conversation, Domingo said his father was from Belize and his father's family came from Guatemala. Those places belong in the story of a career too often encountered through a short list of roles. Latino cultural coverage has room for family histories that cross national boundaries and do not fit its most familiar publicity categories.

There is no requirement that Danny explain that history. An actor can bring his experience to a working life without every character functioning as an autobiography. For audiences, the opportunity is to follow Domingo with that complexity intact: performer, director and colleague, involved in work that asks several people to remain interesting at once.

The next season will give viewers another occasion to see how the ensemble develops. Meanwhile, the existing series offers a place to look beyond the solitary star turn. Domingo's current comedy work keeps a different measure of achievement in view: what becomes possible when an actor's presence helps sustain a whole group.
